Fox is set in his ways. I don;t see him changing much.
But what he SHOULD change is
1) he built a stable of RBs to change up. So change up.
2) Adjustments at half time or when the other team adjusts to what you are doing and starts to destroy you are strongly recommended. Find an OC that can do that.
3) Some rookies made too many mistakes. I am sure that they can do some things well. Until they cane expand, stick to what they do well and let them grow.
4) How about seeing that the team plays for 4 full quarters?
Here's my 2-cents worth (not saying I'm right).
1. The poor run-blocking hurt the run game and it didn't matter who the RB was. The blocking has to get better. 2. No argument on this one. But we're probably stuck with Loggains for the season. 3, Yes, the young players looked pretty rough today. They will get better and execute better as the season goes on. 4. With the O sputtering, maybe the D was getting tired. I don't know. I don't think they quit though.
I thought the poor pass protection often hurt us too, especially in the 2nd half. I think it is reasonable to expect the pass protection to improve. I really do.
This just seems like what you get when you gut a team like we did a year ago. We have a bunch of youngsters, and even a number of the vets are new to this team. It is to be expected that the team looked rough against a good team today in the season opener. They actually performed better than I thought they would.
