I'm of the opinion that Pre-Season games are more of a function of getting timing down and getting game tape of individual players/position groups to try to see what work is needed and where. As a result, the first game is almost always bad for teams that have had a lot of off season turn over. By the second game, the coaches have had some time to look things over and apply the proper coaching/adjustments from the first game. The third game is even more so and the fourth game is simply to see who they need to cut and who has some benefit to keeping.
With all that said, the quality of opponent is fine and if you want to be the best you have to play the best, but it's far less important than the same premise applied to regular season games. It does have merit obviously, for getting the starters up to proper speed for the regular season, but that's more of a side issue for what I believe to be the real purpose of the pre-season.
Ultimately, it's always better to play quality opponents if you want to get better.

Exactly, and I believe this trainings with NE really helped and improved us, especially regarding our WR's and DL
I am struggling with a tangent of this very topic. I got rid of DirecTV and am trying to figure out my best option. I have a gamepass trial right now. It lets me watch the preseason games live and the season games only after a delay. But it lets me watch the games later at my convenience if I am not able available to watch right away. The other option is Sundayticket.tv which I can get for the same price because of a college special my son can sign up for. I would then miss preseason but be able to watch games live. Problem is that if I am late to the TV or not available right when the game is on, I miss part or all of the game. No ability to watch games other than right when they are playing. Tough choice.

Gamepass. Last year I could watch quite a few seasons back + legendary SB's, for instance the 1986 SB

I think gamepass is different for customers outside the US.

Why did you get rid of DirecTV? Cost? They sure seem proud of their service. I just really enjoy starting the game about 1/2 hour delay and skip through commercials. By the time I catch up, it's Half Time. Then again, now that we actually have a forum that I can dig, I may have to watch live and chat with you bone heads.
