Did anyone else notice the bare spots last game ? Jeezus christ , they've had all summer to take care of it so it shoulda been perfect - but no , not in Shitcago ( where actually 'working' some during ur shift is too much for the avg park district worker ) . I played on softball fields that usually look better ... but whatever , I give up , they've been hearing about it for years and nothing changes so obviously they dgas .

I read more about FIFA's quality program for turf. They acknowledge that the newer better artificial surfaces are actually better for stadiums with issues of weather and high use.
From the PDF in the link I posted earlier ...
Due to the great potential of artificial turf for the development of football and other sports, synthetic surfaces are used in many areas of the world. Its resistance to weather and ability to sustain more intensive use make it the best alternative to natural grass.
There is a category called FIFA Quality Pro
FIFA QUALITY PRO
Pitches with the FIFA QUALITY PRO mark are specifically tested to mimic the high performance and safety requirements for professional football for a typical usage of up to 20 playing hours per week. There are stricter requirements for international match pitches (e.g. the size of the pitch, no logos).
Maybe the requirement for the size of the field and the no logo requirements would screw up Soldier Field as the NFL requires certain logos. But the 20 playing hours per week sounds pretty good.

Yeah, we are more into the 20 hours per season category
Something I didn't know, but the area that SF is built on is Chicago wetlands transformed. It helps to understand, beyond the fact that they are in a cold shitty enviornment for grass, why that stuff just can never take hold. The city won't do anything about grass to turf b/c then they lose FIFA soccer which has to be played on natural grass.
FIFA soccer has to be played on natural grass? hmmm I know some european clubs have artificial grass... weird
I have big soccor fans that talk soccor all the time. Unless something changed yes

The CPD has said they will install any type of playing surface the Bears ask for because they're the primary tenant. It's the Bears who keep insisting they want to stick with natural grass. There is a huge soccer stadium out in Bridgeview already. That's where they're playing soccer isn't it?
