I think most of us are Mike and even more so concerned about why so many muscle and soft tissue stuff and to so many so often.

Concussion protocol is standard across the league and it's mandated that each team follow it.  The other stuff is on a per team basis.  My guess is that if key players were needed and could play with some limitation or discomfort they would play.  Fox has made it clear guys have to play with the little "owies".

I'm gonna take an optimistic view here and think the training staff is saying to Fox let us get these guys 100% in the preseason before we turn them loose so we aren't risking just re-injuring them again before they're fully healed.  We'll find out whether that's a correct view or not once the real games start.

There may also be more than a little John Fox "foxiness" behind this.  By keeping sought after players on injury lists other teams can't evaluate them very well and they may be easier to get through waivers and unto the PS or you just put them on the IR for the season and stow them away 'til next year letting them learn from getting mental reps for now.

not requiring surgery and healing back to 100% are not the same thing though. I posted something later that said it can take up to a year w/a tear depending on what movements are required. Even then it doesn't say whether or not they heal properly after that.

Ric, that's a prognosis for a dislocation with a labral tear not a simple labral strain or even a tear.  No one has posted that Long suffered any kind of dislocation.

Most labral tears do not require surgery; however, in patients who have persistent symptoms despite more conservative treatments, surgery may be necessary. So it is telling you that they can and most often do heal without the need for surgery.  It's only when healing doesn't take place and symptoms persist that surgery may be needed.  This stuff is written by a board certified orthopedic surgeon so I think we can accept that it fairly accurate.

If it occurs coincident with a full dislocation yeah. That's possible and that is what you took your info from. Long doesn't have a shoulder dislocation. It's a strained or torn labrum with no dislocation. If they have to they can put him in a sling he can play in to provide more support for the shoulder.

The bottom line is unless we hear differently I don't think he'll miss any time other than now in preseason.

I really was not very concerned about injuries going into the season, but I think I am wrong. This injury is more serious than I thought it was. Fox has done it again to me. My new nickname for him is "Mr. Sunshine" for his ability to blow sunshine up my ass (and no... photo requests will not be honored). He actually sucked me in a second time. (Yeah, sure, have fun with that one too)

And how do we know that?  Foxy never says boo about much of anything.  The answers are all the same and so redundant you could almost number them and guess which one he'll use this time.

I'm sure that this whole dick in the armpit thing is intertwined with the bag of dicks concept. I just haven't figured out how yet, but I'm on it.
