Neither are 'great' , but of the 2 , Sutton has had the better career and he plays with more quickness , hustle and genuine emotion so I'd rather see him stay out of the 2 .
That would be my hope too provided he shows he can handle the #2 NT spot. We really don't have a spot for him at DE this year unless it's in some kind of special "package" or we lose guys to injury again.
Losing all of last year has hurt Ego's development and if we were to offer him in trade I'd hope we could get something for him but I have serious doubts about it. Next week they'll at least 20 or 30 on the street pretty much like him.

It looks tough because if Cornwash has turned the corner he would probably rotate better at DE than Ferguson. As noted Sutton may be tapped as backup NT.

I think that will depend on how Terry Williams plays over the next two games. He has shown good improvement after a year on the PS and has the classic NT body (6'1" and 320). He has shown a quick first step or two and by playing so low he can consistently take on double teams.
If Williams finishes strong, IMO both Sutton and Ego are likely gone.

Williams isn't getting many reps with the 1s or the 2s and that's problematic for him. Also, as poor a DE as Sutton is, he provides some value in that regard AND he's taken snaps on STeams so he can be used in multiple ways. T. Williams problem is that he's solely a NT anchor (and we don't know how good he is in that limited role). When you have a lot of questions and injuries elsewhere, it's hard to justify keeping a player like Williams who's a bit of specialist.

The little I've seen from him as been positive. If you're right maybe another year on the PS.

That's entirely possible chuck. One way or another IMHO I thing Ego is gone anyway. He seems to be having more problems adapting to this defense than Sutton does and when Fangio needed Sutton to step up and least hold the fort at DE last year he was able to do it despite his obvious physical limitation.
With Williams I think it's all about his upside. He's got the better size of the two but that's not everything either. Sutton has probably maxed out as far as what he can do at his size and if Williams offers much the same but can still get better then there's a chance they'll keep him over Sutton or try to get him to the PS again this year.
