I admit it, I'm in full panic about both these guys. They both look like projects who weren't top-10 worthy. Please please please prove me wrong. I so hope I'm wrong but neither one looks special at all right now.
Why the hell cant our genius GMs draft solid players in the 1st round?
In the last 5 years, we have drafted exactly ONE 1st rounder (Long) who was clearly a good pick from early on. We are constantly making excuses for the other 4, one of which has already been shown the door.
we could have had Gurley & Tunsil. Instead we have two guys that aren't starter worthy.
I don't think they would have touched Tunsil no matter what and a few others who needed a LT didn't either but Gurley would have proven to be the better pick even with it's attendant risk especially since we got zip out of KW and the Rams got far more out of Gurley than we got out of any of our RBs.
Once again the RB by committee rears it's ugly head.
I'll say it now. As much as I like John Fox he gets one more year of my unvarnished trust but if this team has not shown much progress this year he's gonna be on a pay as you go basis with me. I'm not asking for a SB but I do expect to see progress and virtually all of these draft picks contributing well at some level or we're right back where we started.
Because he smoked weed? Who cares??? That was a great opportunity to get a top-5 player at #11.

Un uh. There was far more to his issues than just that. Hell I smoke weed so why would I ace him out for that? I think the NFL is crazy for not allowing players to use it under super vision to treat pain as opposed to all the other far worse more addicting stuff they do use.

On the topic of drafting for upside versus taking a safe bet in a player who has talent but does not flash "superstar" I don't know anymore if I would roll the dice on a lottery ticket like Floyd or White. Just too hard to tell what type of,talent you are getting or if you are getting an impact player. And so far although it is PS week 4 I have yet to see any of this potential even being realised into any semblance of usefulness.
