Bears are 8-4 right now at worst and probably 2-1 in division with a competent HC.  They still need upgrades on the lines but they are at least competitive talent-wise with the division for the first time in a long time.  What we are witnessing this year is coaching malpractice as JJ Watt just tweeted.

This is a wildcard level team that is gonna finish 5-12 thanks to the idiotic decision to keep Flus last offseason.  You had Harbaugh sitting right there and you thought keeping Flus was the right thing, huh?

Truly astounding when you think about it.

I am going to look on the bright side. The team has talent. The talent (most of it) will still be here next year. The team also has needs with at least one being expensive (DE & possibly DT). So next year we will still have a team with the same talent but a higher draft position than we would have had. Down side of course is a new coaching start. But with the right coaches, they can still get off to a running start. We are not going to have a stellar record and so will have an easier schedule and will allow us to ramp up with the new staff. That was the plan this year and as you can see with Brown in there as OC, the team would have been on pace to actually beat the lions in the latter part of the year. With the right choices, we can still be where we need to be next year. And it is a new era. First time ever a Bears HC was let go prior to the end of the season. I'm sure Flus is still incredulous. After all, he believes he made all the right choices. How could he have been let go?

Clearly firing Eberflus last offseason and going All In to get Harbaugh was the right idea. I don't see how that can be argued.

However possible it was to get Harbaugh is another matter. Yet if not Harbaugh then there were other candidates to pursue so the concept that Eberflus should've been fired is 100% correct.

I also completely agree that if had a HC who could even complete a sentence in English that we are a Wild Card team.

I will say that I think this the brightest future that this team has had since the mid-2000s with the heyday of Urlacher's D and Hester.

We have a franchise QB. This means that every single year, for the next decade, we can make the playoffs. We've never had that level of long term hope before.

Poles also set us up well with four picks in the first three rounds and a ton of cap space next season.
