Grizz, I understand the frustration. I really do. Hell.... I share it. But I still support the Rome pick. What he failed to do is get a real coach. This team has talent. Even without a good OL, we should be able to move the ball better than we are with this talent.
Correct!
I'm gonna take one more shot at this because I know all of us are frustrated.
Poles hired Flus. Poles stuck with Flus last offseason. The former decision I can forgive as you could easily assume he was a bridge hire for a teardown and early rebuild. The latter decision is unforgiveable however IMO. I'm not gonna even mention Harbaugh cuz regardless it was inexcusable to pair Flus/Wal with a new #1 pick rookie QB.
Poles also has whiffed badly on the OL. Davis was a disastrous signing. Patrick and Bates gave you virtually no value. Even Darnell Wright and Brax, your only successes in the draft, haven't exactly been world beaters. I still don't understand why Poles didn't go all-in on OL in FA last March when he had plenty of money.
So YES, I am NOT GIVING POLES A PASS here. What I am doing is recognizing the obvious that some here won't--GMs usually get at least 2 HC hires and they don't get fired after only 1 season of a new QB pick.
THAT'S JUST THE REALITY HERE, GUYS. Poles is not gonna get fired now or this offseason. So lets just drop it. His seat isn't going to be getting warm yet. He has a lot more runway than Flus and Waldron do.
Getting back to what actually needs to happen right now, Flus and Waldron need to be fired tomorrow. Don't care if mid-season firings "aren't something we do", doesn't matter. This needs to happen now.
The season is over. There's virtually zero chance of finishing above 500 much less making a wildcard. Its all about not wrecking CW any more than you already have the remaining 8 games. Flus and Wal are clearly not the guys you are gonna keep for 2025 and they are wrecking the QB right before our eyes. Fire them right now.
Make Hightower the interim HC and designate a new interim OC. This is an easy decision at this point. Move on and just try to get some semblance of an offense going the next two months even if you go 1-5. You can't continue on the path you are on.
Make a move tonight or tomorrow.
Sad reality, until Poles gets fired. This team will continue to be below .500. He's a trash GM.

There's a lot to unpack here:
Poles: Before we get started I want to say that every GM makes bad draft picks and trades. I do not hold Claypool, Velus, etc. against him. If I have to fault Poles for something it's the OL. Taylor was a luxury pick. Kiran has injury problems. Nothing substantial came from FA even though we have the resources to do so.
I give Ryan Poles a pass because he inherited not only absolutely nothing from Ryan Pace but he started with a negative position. No first rounder. Poor cap position. Older / injury prone players who needed to go. Poles needed to waste a year gutting the roster and hitting the reset button. Year 2 he starts the rebuild with the amazing trade down. He's smart to enough to want DJ Moore which gave us our first star player and significantly weakened Carolina at the same time.
Year 2 happens and while we improved we were still bad. Poles did fine in the first, but then the later rounds with Kiran and Taylor were not good. Taylor is a great punter but that's a luxury item when the OL is bad.
Eberflus: Matt Eberflus had never won anywhere he's ever been, he's never been an HC before nor has he ever developed a franchise QB. He has lost four games where the probability of winning was greater than 90%. He shows a lack of intellect out there between not challenging calls, the Bend Don't Break defense and not stepping in on Waldron's playcalling. He's not a winner. He was a good soldier to watch the team go from Point A to Point B, but he is not a Point B to Point C guy.
In order to progress, we have to hire a winner. Somebody that has done it before. This is why I'm skeptical about Ben Johnson. He would be another coordinator getting his first HC job and all the problems that come with that. I want to get somebody who has been successful before. Toub, Flores, Rivera would be interesting. But not another first time HC.
In terms of firing Eberflus and Waldron now? As chaotic as that would be I think you're right. I agree. Fire them now. Send a message to the players that we you care about winning and that order in the locker room, and on the field, will be restored. Light a fire under them. But yes, there should be an announcement at Halas Hall tonight or tomorrow. Fire them.
I'm gonna take one more shot at this because I know all of us are frustrated.

You might be correct, you might not. That's unknown at this point because the vast majority of GMs don't get fired after just 3 years and 1 HC. And its virtually unheard of to fire a GM 1 year into a new rookie QB he drafted #1 overall.
Guys, THAT'S JUST NOT GONNA HAPPEN. Ok, I'll make one tiny exception -- if Poles refuses to fire Flus out of misplaced loyalty to their friendship then Warren should fire all of them. That won't happen though -- Poles knows he f'd up with Flus and he knows that Flus is obviously not "the guy" at HC for 2025 and beyond.
He is gonna get one more shot with a new HC (and of course he's gotta go all-in on OL) this January.
But damn, what looked like an offseason for the ages last year has turned into an absolute disaster.
Grizz, I understand the frustration. I really do. Hell.... I share it. But I still support the Rome pick. What he failed to do is get a real coach. This team has talent. Even without a good OL, we should be able to move the ball better than we are with this talent.
Williams is not totally innocent, either. Bad OL and bad coaching are messing him up for sure. But he’s also holding the ball and missing throws that should be easy completions.
LOL, totally innocent? He is totally guilty. I completely agree with you. He is not very good

Firing them isn't even about "winning" the rest of the year. Doesn't matter if you go 4-4 or 1-7. Either way the season is over.
Firing them is about arresting the freefall we are in, especially with CW. These guys clearly don't know what to do or ow to do it and CW is regressing big time right in front of our eyes. Seriously, the offense can't possibly get worse than it was today and I am not joking there.
You have to shake things up and try to get CW stabilized and ascending again. That's the only reasonable goal left for this season and Flus/Wal can't be allowed to do any more damage.
The players have given up on these coaches and did so right after the Hail Mary loss when neither of them took any responsibility or even showed that they understood their own failures.
I'm gonna take one more shot at this because I know all of us are frustrated.

I am not on the Fire Poles train. I do think he would send a message that performance this bad will not be tolerated by cleaning house, but who leads the team in the second half of the season? We have no one worth a crap.
But Poles does need to show that this is unacceptable and will take action. I am still seriously concerned that he will keep Flus into next season. Am going to go watch the game now. Just can't wait, lol

I never predicted Poles would be fired yet. It’s not guaranteed Flus will be fired, and that will probably we a Warren (not Poles) action.
Anyway, I’m saying what I want, not what I expect.
