It may make perfect sense to play Bagent right now. Two possible benefits are that it gives Caleb a chance to stop the regression/deterioration and settle down a bit. He was playing a lot better earlier in the season. We talk a lot about letting a young QB have some time to acclimate to the NFL gig. Why not give Caleb a few games to get his feet back under him?
The 2nd reason for doing this is that without an offensive line it makes no sense to leave Caleb out there as the human punching bag. I hate to see Bagent put in that position, but hey, he is not the future here, Caleb is.
I see your points and understand them. But I think if the season is truly about developing Williams (and I think in general as a fan base we lost sight of that) its too late now to go to Bagent. We know Williams can play at an NFL level, we saw it. Lets see if a new OC and maybe (although I doubt it will happen) a change in OFF philosophy (again it will have to come within the same system) brings out that Williams again.
This makes sense; maybe a new OC brings renewal in the QB.
Also, the first-best thing you want to see in your QB is growth. No one has had a chance to see if Bagent has grown. We're making assumptions.
You'll never find anything if you don't look for it.
I wonder when Georgie will bust out that good ol "Mom is pissed and so are we!"?
Mom can be as pissed as she wants, it's her own fault. She ended the Honeybears, and she only allows "nice guys" to be picked for jobs. I'm thinking she's pulling the family strings through George and Mikey all the way down to the HC choices. She's a chip off the ol' Papa Bear block and she's in control of everything just like he was.

Obvious step. Had to be done. Flus just signed his own HC death certificate with the move as well...so I wonder how much of this was really him "going through his process" or the higher up's telling him what was going to happen.

I totally agree. Benching Caleb would be a last resort. But I'm thinking it is a possibility that the last resort may be necessary if Caleb is just getting the punching bag treatment and regressing - and probably headed to I.R. sooner rather than later. Hopefully the new OC can make playing that last card unnecessary. But these remaining games are gonna make our previous powderpuff games look like child's play. Real teams are coming now. Green Bay is just the first one up.
