Maybe Thomas Brown can get something positive out of this group. The players know a heck of a lot more than us fans. They seem to believe in this guy, as being better.

They keep talking about Brown's play calling creativity. How do you gauge that? He hasn't called anything yet. Are they just blowing smoke up into each others nether regions?

All I can think of is that creativity is sorely lacking now, and it is killing the offense being utterly predictable. They mention the formation Shane used as one example of being too predictable. And the 2-minute drill thing was new briefly, but as Kmet points out, this league adjusts quickly to things and that's no longer effective - you have to be creative and keep defenses off balance. CHGO seems to have a direct relationship with some of these player on the Bears that goes beyond what the other beat reporters have. Off the record I wonder if these guys have conveyed stuff that points to this too.
I don't expect some dramatic turnaround against Green Bay. And the vibe I got from Brown in his press conference was that this is not a magic turnaround. Guys are going to have to put in the work to get better - but they can get better. I don't expect a 50 burger laid on the Bears because the defense is decent. Not great but not bad either. If the D can keep this game close then who knows... maybe it won't be a total disaster.

Unless they run against us. But that never happens in the NFL. We have a problem stopping the run for some reason
I'm skeptical that Brown will do much of anything to fix this. We're halfway through the season. There's only so much one guy can do at this point.
I think he will get the offense back on the upswing but yeah its too late to save the season. Needed to be 6-3 at this point to have a real playoff shot.

My focus is still on CW. If I can see him start to play well and improve, I'm good. Not sure how that will happen with these next opponents and a shaky OL. but that's all I am looking for.

That's my focus too at this point. Maybe you've been (like me) listening to the various ex-players and coaches wade in on Caleb. Even with a crappy offensive line, there are things Caleb can/should improve in spite of the OL woes. It won't fix the offense or save our season. But at least there are things Caleb can work on to improve his game. I'm hoping the new OC T.Brown can help Caleb to do this successfully. Some things I'm hearing from multiple sources is that the Bears can commit more to the run game and that will help the OL and Caleb, both. I keep hearing about setting Caleb up with more layup passes rather than trying to drop back and wait for deeper pass plays... which will get the ball out fast consistently and save wear and tear on CW. They talk about how Caleb's footwork has deteriorated and that is hurting his passing accuracy - it is why we're seeing the bad throws so often... that is something that can/should be fixed. My point is that it sure sounds like there are things that can help Caleb and stop the regression and deterioration as the season progresses. Things that can be done in spite of the level of competition ahead. Will we win games? Maybe not, but at least we may see Caleb begin to improve. That's the focus for me too at this point. CW improving and at least not getting worse.

The other thing I wondered about is that the players said that Waldron was letting stuff go too easily and was not disciplined enough on players. I might be over analyzing but am wondering if CW was not one of the guys. Not that I doubt he is working hard, but wondering if Waldron was hesitant to push and provide tough love there. I mean I can see CW having more of an A type personality than Waldron and maybe he just didn't want to push, antagonize his wiz kid. Dunno. just MSUing probably.
Until Flus is fired I will not be rooting for the Bears. If he lasts the year, Poles and Warren can join him as new names no changes to organization has occurred. I have never been so close to being done with Football. I quit baseball in the 80s when they cancelled world series do to strike and have not watched a game since. The Bears almost have me there with NFL
