I almost feel sorry for the guy. He'd win back the whole city if he'd stand there at his next press conference and say "Well, Flus-ed that one. Our options were try for a few more yards or kick. We tried kicking last week and it got blocked, this week....well our guy fumbled/lost yardage/false start. Anyone got a suggestion for next week?"
I see that as a real fatal flaw. If you are never wrong, there is no reason to make adjustments. Just look inward and things will turn around
I know most of the fan base is angry with Eberflus, but I'm more disappointed than angry with him. I am angry at the situation - another lost season. 'Flus is wanting to win, but he isn't able to get that done. The franchise will probably hire another coach and I'm fine with that. But I don't hate Eberflus - again, I'm disappointed, and I hate the situation and outcome. I don't know if any of you have failed at a job, or doing part of your job, even though you did your best and wanted to be successful. But I have. I sure wasn't intentionally trying to screw things up but I did.

I could be wrong, but I'm thinking the guy is so totally overwhelmed right now that he's blown all his circuits and not tracking quite right. He certainly is not saying or doing the right things. I'm not excusing him here, but just saying that's how he looks to me. He's totally screwed and knows his dream job here in Chicago has ended. He knows he's going to be fired and these are his final games as a head coach. He will be selling his home and moving his family to another city (to be determined where) to take a significant demotion - and all the embarrassment that involves too. Yeah, he failed here. Yes, he should have done things differently. And I totally get it that this is the gig for head coaches in the NFL. As I said in the other post, I hate what happened with the failure of yet another head coach here. But I don't hate Eberflus. Just disappointed he couldn't get it done here. Sucks for us and him both.

Yes, I was Peter-principled into a position I was not ready for or prepared for, all my fault completely. I was horrible as a manager, so much so I know now its not anywhere in my wheelhouse. I am not managerial material, hard worker and loyal underling nut not a boss never again. So, I know exactly what 'Flus is feeling...I think.

+1 True story. When I was very young in my career I did the Peter-principle thing. At one point my boss was ripping me a new one... he was a big scary dude who scared the crap out of me. He had a fist like a 5-pound ham that he slammed on his desk and it would jump. That morning he was just yelling and looking like he was near having a stroke (I'd really screwed up, again) and finally he got scary quiet (I think the guy did like me but would never show it) he quietly sat down behind his desk, looked up at me, and (like pleading with me), "Dave, THINK before you do these things" - I'll never forget that moment. I would have fired me back then. Thankfully that guy didn't. But holy cow I know I took years off that guys' life back then.
