The players play to win. Flustered will coach to not lose, but will lose in doing so. The team will lose out, but not by tanking, it will be due to inept coaching.
I voted “No” as I’m concerned we’re developing a culture of losing (if we haven’t already) which will simply trash CW’s development and career.
I've thought that too, regarding the "culture of losing" thing. It's a real thing. Once that disease is entrenched in a franchise it's pretty tough to cure - even when you DO get the right coaches in place. The team is going to lose most if not all of these remaining games. Not because they tanked but because we don't have the offensive line or coaching to get winning done here. This OL blows chunks and has blown chunks for way too long here in Chicago. The OL is the foundation that supports the QB - and the entire offense. IF the foundation is rotten (and ours is) then you get what we have seen here in Chicago (for too many years now).
Fix the coaches. Fix the OL. And watch this thing turn around and the Bears no longer being the joke of the NFL. We are now what the Lions were. They turned it around. We can too. But it will take getting the HC hire right. And it will take serious investment in the offensive line. With Wright now looking like he could be a bust, we're looking at a major rebuild on that OL. Maybe Wright can cut it as a guard. I don't know. He's one of our worst OL right now though. Jenkins is made of glass. The C position sucks bigtime. Still. Pryor just lost us a game last Sunday... dude is backup material at best. Brax is Brax and marginal at best on pass protection against bull rushes. It's a house of cards. It is killing this team.
There is no point in winning meaningless games. If we rip off five wins in a row Eberflus sympathizers will pound the table to keep him and here we go with the arguing.
Then we watch the franchise OL prospects go before us in the draft.
Lose out. Keep developing Caleb. Fire Eberflus. Draft the best OL prospect we can in the first. And yes, if a franchise IOL is there at 14 or wherever we draft take him. I have no issue drafting a franchise IOL high up in the first. Obviously my preference is LT but if those are gone I’m fine with a franchise IOL otherwise trade down.
Without even trying to we could easily lose every game from here out. Flus has beaten maybe 1 good team in his time here and every opponent we have left is a good team. Realistically, we will probably win 1-2 more games just by dumb luck but I can't see anything better than that.
That puts Flus at 6-11 which is a worse record than last year with a new QB, stacked receiving corps, a good defense, and a complete softball schedule the first half of the year.
That's an indefensible performance without even taking into account his disastrous mismanagement which directly caused a number of those losses.
I just want him fired so I never have hear or see his lame-ass ever again.

Exactly how I see it too. We might win a game or two, but Flus can't do better than that.

Yeah, we wouldn't want to jeopardize our "culture". The HITS principle has been such a smashing success.
I'm not worried about that at all. Whatever gets Flus and his merry band of incompetent underlings outta here is fine by me. The new HC will instill his own culture. There's nothing of that from the Flus-era anyone will miss.

And to be honest, the culture isn't what it has been billed to be. Guys are loafing not H.I.T.S. stuff right now... in fact it sure seems like we are seeing the cracks in the locker room (I think these guys want change too). I don't think the team needs to tank because it's going to be the same result as a tank. Guys will be checking out more and more and the losses will come as a natural result of that.

If the Bears wind up with a Top 10 pick, so be it.
The difference is, did they wind up there deliberately, or was it just failure after honestly trying?

The impact in the locker room is different.
I agree. We just need to watch it all go down and not worry about tanking. Especially if the Vikings win this next game. 'Flus isn't gonna tank because this is his job on the line. The tanking talk is just talk. Let the Eberflus hype train from 2022 roll into the station for the final time, at the end of the season. There won't be any riders left to hop off that train by that point. Maybe poor old Virginia will get helped off the train by George and "that will be that" for the "Flus era.
