I wasn't sure if this was appropriate for the Bears discussion or here. I know the majority of the memebers here are Bears fans and, as a whole, NFL fans. The Bears are my team, no questioning that.
Making that clear, what team would you say you follow most closely and have a soft spot for? Why?
I used to say the Steelers were my "#2 team" in support of my best friends favorite team... and to piss off local Baltimore and, to a lesser extent, Philly fans. For you that don't know, I live in MD.
Now, for me, it's the Browns. They have been the lovable losers for so long. Like, they were/are the trainwreck you'd watch or compare your team to say "At least we're not the Browns." Since their franchise emerged from expansion, they have been a mess. It really seems like DePodesta, Sashi Brown, and Hue Jackson have this franchise going in the right direction. When I see people say "The Browns will screw it up" I smerk bc I just think a lot of people are about to eat their words. The team practically tanked to stock draft picks and gather money for some big future moves. They are the team I am second most eager to watch this offseason.
None really, used to like Chargers, 2 decades ago, now - only Bears
What grabbed you about those Chargers teams? I'm pretty ignorant about what the Chargers were like back then.
Well I started watching NFL on german satellite channels, so it was Cowboys, 49ers, Bills, Steelers and Chargers back then. I remember I loved Steve Young but also begun to like that Chargers team when they lost Super Bowl vs Young, if I recall it right.
RIght now I'd say my second favorite team is the Raiders... McKensie (from the Packers) took that nightmare and rebuilt it completely. It's been interesting to watch the pieces fall into place.

I half forgot they were in a SB back then. What lead you to the Bears? Haha
I've been a Bears fan since my oldest brother taught me the right way. It's funny though, my parents are Packer fans, as most of my family lives/comes from Wisconsin, but my brother was raised in Illinois and grew up a Bears fan.

I agree, that organization has done work. They are unrecognizable from their laughable JRussell days.

Bulls led me to Bears, die hard Bulls fan. Started watching the year Jordan left for the first time, '93...

I started rooting for the Raiders as my second team back the the late 60s and early 70s (when the Bears were really bottoming out). Kick ass defense, gun slinger QBs (Lamonica, Stabler, etc). And one of the original bad boy owners in Al Davis. Just win, baby. What's not to like.
I've been happy to see them come back and hope Carr is OK going forward.
