butkus3595, considering your profession, I was wondering what your thoughts were on this. Obviously, teams should probably have some say on where an athlete works out to make sure they aren't going to voodoo doctors or something, but is this a bit harsh? Do you know if the guys that train with you generally get team permission?

Yeah...I didn't love the letter. I mean I know guys workout outside the facility "at their own risk", but I think thats BS. These guys all have the kind of money where they can live wherever they want in the off season, so most don't live where they play. I know team strength coaches give guys recommendations...thats how we've gotten some of our guys, but I've never heard of a team "banning" certain gyms. Hell...the Patriots gave Tom Brady's quack trainer cart blanche at the facility. He damn near ended Gronks career doing graston on a hematoma! Speaking of Brady...he used to live in NYC in the off season in the later years he was with the Patriots. If he got hurt training in the off season in NYC...do you think the Patriots were gonna void his contract? I don't think so. Which is why that letter had me so pissed off.
Now, part of this is the unions fault. They should have worked for protection for players in the CBA...but they didn't. Teams want players to come in in shape, but they'll void your contract if you get hurt training outside of the facility. Its just dumb to me.
