Looking at the Panthers deal, the Seahawks could have gotten Mayfield for about $5 million. At a bargain price like that, Seahawks should have made the deal. I’m not sure they even tried. It appears that they are going to stand pat. Funny, but I think Bears and Seahawks are both holding off any big, long-term moves until 2023.

I'm convinced the Bears are doing a "soft tank" this year for the 2023 draft pick position. They won't intentionally throw games. But rather they will just let the season play out naturally with a top-5 draft position next year. What about the Seahawks? I haven't really followed them at all.

The Seahawks claim they had no interest in Mayfield, and they have confidence in Lock/Smith at QB to manage their run-heavy offense. Pete Carroll loves to pound it on the ground, and their new rookie RB (Walker) is damn good (along with Penny). If that doesn’t work, then they are going to be competing head-on with the Bears in FA in 2023, because they also will have a ton of cap money and will be drafting pretty high.
