After the Washington game this has not been an easy week for me as a Bears fan. I wanted to take a look towards 2025 and run a mock draft.
This is the draft that I would do, not what I think Ryan Poles will do.
One thing to note, I did not want to draft three OL with the intent for all three to start. I think that invites disaster. I'm fine with two; but not three.
The simulator had us drafting at 18 in the first.
Here goes:
Thought Process:
My primary concern was addressing the OL. The advantage I had was that we have four legit positions of need: LT, G x 2, and C. I could take any highly graded OL prospect and be fine. Given the need at IOL, I didn't feel the need to commit to holding the 18 because that's overkill for IOL if a franchise LT was not available. My original intention was to go LT at 18, however....
At 18, Will Campbell, LT from LSU was on the board. I took the trade down with the Raiders from 18 to 37 to get their 26R1. I figured there was a good chance the Raiders pick would be Top 10 in 2026, Top 15 at the worst and I didn't want to pass that up. Getting the 37 still kept me in range to take a highly graded IOL, plus having our two second round picks and I really like the idea of having a Top 15 first rounder next year to pair with wherever ours winds up.
The results of the various trade down I did gives us the following for 2026:
26R1 x 2
26R2 x 2
26R3 x 3
That is a staggering amount of ammunition to restock the roster, trade a pick for a star player, or to trade up in the draft for a Top 10 blue chip prospect.
I do feel that this mock draft fixes our IOL, with the exception of C, but I did not want to draft 3 IOL with the intention of starting all three.
Thoughts On The Picks:
25R2: 33 (Carolina pick from the trade down.)
Tyler Booker, G, Alabama
Booker is a huge man at 6'5", 352 and plays LG. Day 1 starter.
At 37, the pick from the Raiders, I traded with Cleveland down to 38, for their 26R3.
25R2: 38
Donovan Jackson, G, Ohio State
Jackson is 6'4", 320 and plays LG for Ohio State. I would test Booker and Jackson to see which one fits LG and RG the best and start them.
25R2: 50
I traded the pick to the Cowboys for the 77th pick plus a 26R2 and a 26R3.
25R3: 77
Dontay Corleone, DT, Cincinnati
This is the big boy run stuffer with OK pass rush skills that shuts down the running game on his own.
6'1", 320, Corleone is the perfect interior compliment to pass rushing Dexter. He's a giant wall in the middle.
25R3: 82
Sebastian Castro, S, Iowa
Brisker's concussion history concerns me and I worry about his health. Castro is a good tackler and is good against the pass.
25R6: 201
Donovan Edwards, RB, Michian
I went BPA here, not much thought put into this.
