It just seems like this OL situation has gone on for 3-4GM's so far. Seems like it's just been half measures and getting depth pieces that they shout are starting material. It never ends.
A LOT of resources have been spent on getting the right QB over the years and that drains the top of the draft for being able to get either a top LT or DE. Now that we supposedly don't need to get a QB anymore (at lest until we ruin this one), we have the draft capital to finally work on this. If it doesn't happen this next year, it never will

I am convinced of that. It is the team's "now or never" moment. They have a legit chance to put the finishing touches on the rebuild, and hire a good coach - and be one of the better young teams in the NFL. The two greatest challenges are to build a good offensive line and hire a coach who can develop Caleb and the offense. It has been the insurmountable challenge so far. But I feel like they can finally get it done now.

I totally agree.
Ryan Poles is drafting and hiring a HC this offseason as if his job depends upon it because I believe it does.
If the draft comes and goes and we don't take 2 starting OL with those four picks in the three rounds and FA is a dud, I hate saying because I like him, but it might be time for Poles to go.
Any thoughts about today's O-Line play? I thought they were much better than normal. (Still not good enough though).
I still want Poles to go all in on the O-Line next spring. HC and O-Line. OR I give up on him then too.
Brax crapped the bed a few times today. He was bull rushed on the field goal play and his guy blocked the FG costing us dearly there. Nothing new there. He gets owned in every game when bull rushed. I think Caleb and the play calling helped the OL in this game. I'd like to see that continue. Yes, CW did hold on to the ball too long on the big sack play. Rookie QBs are going to make some mistakes like that - and Caleb made very few today. Dude is looking good. He made a couple of passes today that very few QBs in the NFL are capable of making. Teen tiny windows and he made it look easy. Too bad the stone handed players dropped so many passes today. Some of those drops were PERFECT passes hitting them squarely in both hands - and - they dropped the ball.

They were good today. Really good considering that pass rush they were facing. Hey, Tevin Jenkins actually made it thru a whole game without getting hurt!
OL and DL, OL & DL......that's what we need after a new HC.

I don't know what needs to be done to help Braxton Jones with bull rushes, but they need to figure it out. It cost us a FG today.

If the draft were today we would be picking 12th in the first.
That's still a bit too low to guarantee a blue chip LT.
I'm saying this because I'm thinking long term and of Caleb but we need to lose a lot more games. To guarantee that LT we need to be at 6.
Take LT in the top 10. Sign the G from the Chiefs or a C in FA then take another G in the second round no matter what because we need two Gs and we're set.

That may be the best way to go. Braxton Jones is not a bad LT, especially if he can fix the bull rush problem in year 4. But we don't know if he can do that yet. And do you pay a big payday to him if he can't? I know folks will point out his good points - and he has those good points. LOL, it would be easy if the guy sucked bigtime, but he is right in the middle. I know folks will quote the PFF grades saying he's really good. I think those grades are off, at least to some extent. Yeah, if he COULD fix the bull rush weakness, I would be fine paying him. Listening to him explain it, sounds like a technique issue more than a strength issue... it is consistency being successful when bull rushed.
