Well I have an idea of what I would do if I was in Ryan Pace's shoes but I'm not so this is all just a theoretical discussion anyway. Fox may survive it all somehow because he's good at that but he's lost whatever trust I had in him to make things right in Chicago and even opened a few old wounds and bad memories so I'm gonna let go at that. I may never have agreed to hire him to begin with but hindsight is always 20/20. Time to move on.

I was like you on the Fox hire. Originally, I thought, well, at least he's a veteran coach who has had some success. I thought he'd at least be a safe hire to repair the Trestman damage. I was feeling good about it all. I thought Pace/Fox would get this team on track. But it just seems like things are getting worse instead of better.

JABF/Soul, what do you think of my plan? We send them one of the old "Rockem Sockem Robots" toys and the one who gets his block knocked off more loses the power contest. I think that is pretty democratic. hehehehehe

I think you're on to something :-) My brother and I had a set of them when we were young. They were cool.

Cheap plastic. Our set lasted about as long as Kevin White did last year in training camp. Battling Tops lasted longer (but wasn't as much fun)...

I wish it was only "seems like" but the reality of it is they are. Do you see any hope at all of winning on Sunday or beating Minny or GB? To me that's 3 sure losses right now and only if we can beat both Indy and Jax can we even be 2-6 at the bye. Even worse we could be 1-7 or 0-8. Nothing is too bad to be true now. LOL
I could apologize for the realist I am but then that would be re-adopting bad habits from my younger years that always ended up as disasters or near disasters. So as I've gotten older I've begun to assume first that if I smell smoke it's actually a fire not just toast burning in the kitchen.

LOL God I remember that thing and the pre-Christmas TV commercials for it. Isn't it bizarre how crude all those toys were compared to all the high tech stuff and video games kids grow up with now?
You aren't as old as I am though J. You must have found this in some '60s nostalgia book. Ha ha.
Are there any facts that back this rift up? Or is this all due to some guy on a podcast claiming this?
An actual rift I would say no. All we have is what Kaplan claims and the rest is just supposition and theory extracted from what's been happening and how it's been observed.
But the part about Pace's hire being subject too his acceptance of Fox as his HC has so much precedence to back it up that IMHO there's little cause to doubt that part payton. The sheer logic of it and Ernie Accorsi's part in it coupled with typical Ted Phillips and McCaskey conservative-ism all leads down the path to that conclusion.
Since Mikey was fired by Mama Bear they've hired three neophyte GMs and both JA and Emery were hired with an existing HC in place who kept his job for at least one year thereafter. So it fits that they would repeat that process with Pace only in this case they kind of paired them just like Elway and Fox were paired simultaneously here in Denver. I believe that's also what Accorsi's recommendation was modeled after.
We know that eventually somewhat of a rift had developed between JA and Lovie and Lovie was his hire. We also know that a rift eventually developed between Elway and Fox despite his initial respect for Fox. Emery parted ways with Lovie as soon as he was allowed to but a rift between him and Trestman never had time to take hold. Trestman obviously had to go and Emery mishandling of that hire and a few more things sealed his fate so they could wipe the slate clean.
I don't think anyone knows all of what's going on no matter how much inside info may have been fed to them by "unnamed sources" but to think all is well and that there is not rift or disconnect seems just as unlikely. Something stinks and it's not just the way the team is playing.

Losing Gase and replacing him with the dwarf isn't the best Situation for the guy that's known to hire good coaches. Were the Bears to cheap to pay the OC?
