OL coach is a problem too. Did Flus force him on Waldron? I find it hard to believe that Waldron wouldn’t want his own guy coaching the oline to fit his scheme.
I don't know the answer but yeah its a valid question.
Here's some other valid questions about Chris Morgan:
Has the OL as a whole improved over the last 2 seasons?
Can you name a player he has developed or "coached-up"?
I'm going to say Poles probably wasn't allowed to fire Flus this past off season cause he had a 5 year deal and I can't see very many owners that would want to pay someone for 3 years for nothing.

I'm willing to say Flus is in his 3rd year of doing nothing, so we have already done that.

But would you want to save having to double pay and then so pay someone for a year that causes you to lose the investment in the #1 QB pick that took decades to get?
Dollar wise and penny foolish. Or in this case, dollar foolish and penny even more foolish

Of course it is. You would have to eat an extra maybe $5m firing him one year early.
You'd make 100x on that by nailing the HC-QB combo for the next decade.

But yeah, let's save a few million instead.
I think fans all believe that and want 'Flus gone, but the McCaskeys may balk. Or, I could see them feel enough embarrassment and pressure that they do sweep this coaching staff out and pay the remaining salaries (over two dozen coaches now) - with them lowballing the new hires so they limit the financial damage. LOL, I know that is probably tin-foil hat stuff, but I do worry that they'll hire some cheap rookie head coach (not a top tier guy) to save money. Yes, we fans wouldn't do that (hire on the cheap), but the McCaskeys might. That may have been why the family did not hire Harbaugh. Harbaugh got an $80-million dollar contract while 'Flus makes 4.5 mil per year.
The family understands that they can throw the fans a bone and hire a first time HC and shut the fans up for a couple of years that way. And that has always worked. We get giddy over the new coaches and dream about how "this time" it will be better... new coaches, new hope, but for a couple of years. Then we realize the new guys are as bad or worse than the old guys were.
EDIT: I would add that fans assume that the McCaskey family is all in on Caleb Williams like we are. But this is a business with a family ownership that understands they make money no matter how crappy the product is on the field. Would they like to win too? Sure. Do they want Caleb to succeed, yep. But money is the prime motivator here. I know we see it as win/win money wise to run the franchise better, investing in top coaching. But the family may not see it our way. I think (100% believe) that the reason the family is balking at developing the Arlington Heights sports complex is due to money. They have cold feet now about developing the property and want to go on renting - even if that is staying at the aging Soldier Field. I think they'll sell the AH property and pass on what could have been an incredible money-maker for them. But these are not visionary people. It is a ma & pa ownership that is very short-sighted.

The part B part of this whole question is.... ok, so Poles wanted continuity. But there was no great shakes results from Flus. So it should have been more of a one or two year prove it on Flus if he had been objective. What possessed him to give him a five year deal? He did nothing to justify that. So this is his fault and to let him out so early screams that he screwed up. So there is going to be resistance to letting him go. Of course if they Carr CW, then he goes anyway and the team and fans are left with wreckage that will take years (maybe decades with no exaggeration) to crawl out of. This is where Warren needs to be the President of the club and give some no nonsense direction.

The McCaskeys haven’t done anything in almost 40 years. LOL

Yeah I agree
If the Bears coaching staff wrecks the CW draft pick, this franchise is finished for a long, long time. You may not another opportunity like you had there (tank year, get #1 pick, get a haul, get #1 pick again, etc) for decades. If things don't turn around soon offensively, Kevin Warren has to intervene if Poles won't.

He got the deal before any of this ever happened. Poles probably told every coaching candidate that year 1 was going to be a tear down...so anyone with 2 working brain cells would ask for an extra year on their deal. Its really only fair considering what the situation was.
