Well, as I have said before, players and coaches NEVER tank. Too much at stake for them every time they run out of the tunnel.
So, Bears fans say they will root against winning their final seven games and going to the playoffs.
It doesn't matter that winning 7 in a row is not probable. It is not probable for every team in the league, but I promise you the Bears fan base is the ONLY fan base in the NFL rooting against their own team.

I second that motion. I almost said something to him, but had to delete my post as I was getting too antagonistic and riled up. It's one thing to go to an opponent's board and talk football, but he was patting himself on the back and acting holier-than-thou, and wasn't going to stop with his sideways digs. And he was clueless (to use his own word) if he thinks the fanbase wants to tank just because one guy does.
We're all in teh same boat here, wanting to win but not at the cost of being Flustered another year or two. Flus absolutely has to be fired. No later than 12:01 am on Black Monday.
I'm ranting and preaching to the choir here I know, but I am so beyond fed up with the Bears clown college organization I can't see straight. These buffoons make the same dumb mistakes over and over and over. And then its yet another year where there's no meaningful football left and the season is effectively over by mid-November. And we get to be stuck in this awful limbo where winning a game isn't even fun because you have to be terrified the easily-satisfied-with-mediocrity front office won't make any necessary changes.
It sucks being scared to root for a win and having to hope somehow to lose enough games so that the morons over at HH will actually take this seriously.
George & Fam are sooooooooo lucky they happen to own a hapless NFL franchise in large, loyal, sports-crazy market. Imagine if instead they owned a team in Atlanta or Jacksonville or LA -- the stadium would be empty, the merch wouldn't sell, and they would have gone broke many years ago, long before the TV contracts became so lucrative.
I wonder how much attendance the Bears would have if the Cardinals were still here in Chicago. I think it's just a matter of a couple more games before Soldier Field empties out. Especially now that the weather is finally turning to winter.
I have to believe the McC's watch the news and see all the outrage from sportswriters as well as fans. You can't get away from social media these days. I don't have a facebook account or any of that, but I still see posts from there and twitter and the like all over the place. The McCs have to see it too. I'm sure they're embearassed by it all. The question is this - what is the threshold for them to take action, and are they there yet. I hope so. But like when Lovie was fired, it was the right thing to do, but then they failed with the next hire. and the one after that, etc etc etc etc. They need to wake up and do it right this time.

Or I might become a Cardinals fan.
I'm going to the game this weekend. Not because I really want to but because coming into town for thanksgiving. I'm selling all my remaining tickets. What happens is that as these games become more and more meaningless, fans sell their seats and mostly visiting team fans buy them. By late in the year you will see as many visiting jerseys as Bears ones.
Have lived this before for numerous years and I have read from Bears beat guys that the optics of that really piss off George. The McCaskeys really care about public image--maybe too much at times--and they really don't like embarrassing spectacles like that.
Since I live in AZ yeah I'm turning to Cards fandom the rest of this season. They are better this season than I expected and have a real shot at making the playoffs. They're up a game in division with 2 tiebreaks in hand.
I can tell you personally that it sucks going to a game where winning doesn't even feel good. No one wants to actively cheer for a loss either. It sucks when you know you can't trust the org to do the right thing and you're afraid that winning a few games might delude these clowns into sticking with Flus.

Soooooo, back to the thread.

Isn't that the truth? How much more of a stupid position can you be in?

Its awful as a fan watching. Imagine how it feels as a fan paying big money for season tickets. I wish I could trust the org more. I wish I could trust that pulling off a few meaningless wins late in the year wouldn't give them the excuse they are looking for.
You should already know Flus isn't the right coach for CW going forward. He isn't gonna ever be a high-level NFL coach. He isn't even mid-tier. If you don't want to fire in-season, your mind should already be made up that he's gone on Black Monday no matter what.
But these are the same people who ran Pace/Nagy back under the guise of "collaboration".

They'll "semi tank" naturally. No need to retard CW 's growth. The D needs to know that they are under scrutiny as well. Current draft capital is solid. Really no need IMO.

I was thinking the same thing. IMO, we don't have to tank. Keeping the coaching staff intact will do it for us.

Flus found a way to lose another close one. Not sure why the difference between first half and second half play but despite himself, with Brown at OC, Flus is in danger of winning a game despite himself
