Since riczaj01 mentioned it, Has anyone thought of making a facebook page and having us all a part of it? I know it encroaches on personal lives and some people like to distance themselves but I for 1 don't cur much..Most of my posts are asinine booze filled posts anyways?
This board isn't the fanciest software, but it is solid with the basics. The board content is fresh and interesting every day - and that is particularly amazing when the team is having a crappy year. People here still find good stuff to talk about anyway. I am impressed that less than 50 posters can still be so active here. The old board has over 1,500 members - yet the content is not as good as what we have here. I guess it's not about numbers, but rather the quality over quantity.
10/10 football post JABF!!!
lol... I agree 100%. There are much better boards in terms of layout and architecture. Hell, the same could have been said about our old board. It's not about that. It's about where you want to spend your time. And on a message board it's all about who is a member of that board and who moderates that board. Those two things set the tone for tone and content.
I like it, so far the nicest thing is not having the site seemingly shut down for a day; like the other one was yesterday. Crosses fingers. But quality over quantity is always better.
I hopped over to the old site just to check it out a few times over the past week or so. I felt sorry for some of the good posters who have stayed there. The place is dying an ugly death. The good posters don't post much anymore. Not much fresh stuff posted that has any quality. I saw this morning where Ski was ticked that nobody told him the board had been down for an entire day. Wouldn't you think he, or one of the mods would have noticed the board had died?
I think Ski may have just lost interest in the board and on most days it's just on autopilot over there. It's too bad. It was once a stellar board, IMHO.
It was and it is too bad. The two factors even prior to the invasion of the thread snatchers that I feel contributed most were the opening of that unmoderated Bar Scene which not only attracted posters you wouldn't normally want but it's also pulled a lot of attention away from the football forum which is what was supposed to be the featured attraction. IMHO that hasn't been the case for a very long time.
The other is that I believe Rick lost interest in the place long ago. He's not a Chicagoan nor has he been a devoted fan of the team lately like he was at one time. In absentia he depended on staff members to keep things running but I question how many even go there to post much any longer when a guy like Bear Stuff joins here and even when I was posting there I seldom saw the old time staff guys like Kegstand, Bear Claws or even 4th and 26 posting much any longer.
Benji and Jimmors were never good mods and Loki spent more time in the Bar Scene than he did the football forum too so eventually Rick decided the football forum should be almost as unmoderated as the Bar Scene and all the good football talk and posters leave or simply stop posting. It's not like there's a whole lot to be happy about with our team right now anyway but at least those who still care to post have a place we can do it now like we could before.

Have you been on the other site? The have a thread talking about how they are trolling on a Lions fan forum. I never understood why that was so enjoyable. There are like three of them that made up accounts as Lions fans there. Those guys have to be like 20 years old or something.
