There is really only one thing I like more about the other site and that's the ease of use of the format.  It's just little things like clicking on a link and it brings me to the last thing I viewed.  Having a link at the bottom that bring me back to the topics.

The quality is much, much better here though.

This platform actually has those features hawk.

The icon in the thread title that says "New" will bring you to the first new post in that thread following the last one you've read and skip over all you have read.  And there is a large arrow to the bottom right of each page that will at least bring you back to the top of a page.  From there you just have to select the forum again and your back to it's home page not the main home page.

I post a lot on a guitar website that has over 100,000 members world wide with a very slick platform and even there once you're in a thread all an arrow icon can do is get you back to the top of a page.  You still have to exit that thread to get back to the rest of them posted in that forum.

We do have options we can employ and Alex does work on that stuff but every platform has some limitations on how well you can browse it.  If those features aren't showing up for you it may be your system itself and not this one.

I think it always has been brother and it was that same way when DBS began with a handful while the CBMB site had thousands.  Somewhere along the line Rick lost site of that and quantity over ruled quality.  You get what he got when that happens.

I neither follow nor participate in social media and while I have accounts with a few those were opened strictly to access sites or forums that required a FB or Twitter account.  I don't use them otherwise or post to them and I would prefer we not use one to promote this place for the very reason Ric mentioned and I bold faced.  We're doing fine as we are.

The key to that JJ was never letting them register to begin with.  None of the members here have ever used that style of posting even at DBS and that being the case there was even less likelihood that anyone would ever use it here.  As I posted.  Moderation is a breeze because there's really been no need for it.

lol... I agree 100%. There are much better boards in terms of layout and architecture. Hell, the same could have been said about our old board. It's not about that. It's about where you want to spend your time. And on a message board it's all about who is a member of that board and who moderates that board. Those two things set the tone for tone and content.

Yep, there are options here we haven't explored yet but for the most part the more any site adds that distracts from it's main topic or topics the less great posting gets done.  That's why I was never in favor of The Bar Scene or the games on DBS.  Alex, Ric, and I will look to add things as we go along but still within limits.

The betting stuff or even FF is OK because it's still very football focused but the more off topic stuff you provide the more off topic posting you'll get.  This huge guitar site I post on is all about guitars and amps and mainly those of a certain type and manufacturer.  We don't post about banjos, accordions, and trombones there either.

That was another practice of the old CBMB bunch that we eliminated when we began DBS.  The CBMB would always have invasions of trolls from other teams the week of a game and we wanted to stop that so we didn't let them on DBS and our guys didn't wander over to their sites to troll.  Talk was fine but out and out trolling no.

So it would seem that many of those young 'uns who cut their teeth posting on the CBMB site went to CCS and then eventually to DBS and they got older but never wiser or more mature.  They probably never will either.  Tell me, how smart is it to troll the site of a team that's kicked your ass three years running?  Stupid is as stupid does.

I'm really enjoying the site. It's nice to see all of the crew I enjoyed posting with back at the old place. So far it's been great conversation. I've swung by the old place a couple of times...all good things must come to an end I guess.

Yep and those 3 people are none other than HeHateMe, Grimson, and BearDen.

I still don't understand how they were able to continue posting on the old forum after breaking many rules...

Its like the moderators didn't give a shit about the forum anymore.
